Triphala Tincture

$14.00

20 in stock

Triphala is an Ayurvedic formula of three herbs whose primary function when combined is to "build digestive fire"- which is the foundation of optimum health. If your digestion is wonky (improper nutrient absortion, acid reflux, gall bladder or liver issues, blood sugar issues, or diarrhea or constipation, give Triphala a try!

Triphala is most commonly known for its use as a gentle bowel tonic, being helpful in digestion, and supporting regular bowel movements. The combination of the three fruits has a synergistic effect to bolster many other systems as well. In addition to the GI tract, Ayurveda uses triphala to support healthy respiratory, cardiovascular, urinary, reproductive, and nervous systems.

The three fruits involved in making triphala are also known for their individual effects:
Amalaki (Emblica officinalis): Has a cooling effect that manages pitta, supporting the natural functions of the liver and the immune system.
Bibhitaki (Terminalia belerica): Is particularly good for kapha, supporting the respiratory system as well as kapha accumulations in all systems.
Haritaki (Terminalia chebula): Though having a heating nature, it is still good for all three doshas (vata, pitta, and kapha). Is known for its “scraping” effect, which removes toxins and helps maintain healthy levels of weight.

Triphala comes in 1 oz dropper bottles.

Water, Alcohol (GF), Amalaki (Emblica officinalis)*, Bibhitaki (Terminalia belerica)* and Haritaki (Terminalia chebula)* (*organic)

This tincture is a remedy, meaning it is for temporary use for an acute problem (like a headache, muscle spasm, or infection). Standard starting dose for an adult over 100# is a dropperful (defined as what comes up into the vial when you squeeze the bulb, about halfway) up to 6 times daily. Know that if you have a bigger body mass or faster metabolism than the average bear, you may want a bigger or more frequent dose. We doubt you will need that much, but it’s nice to know that you can!

How to Use Herbal Supplements (Generally Speaking)

Herbal remedies, supplements, and tonics are fundamentally different from pharmaceuticals (and we like it that way). They are designed to restore your body and its systems to homeostasis gently- working with your body.

We post basic dosage guidelines, but keep in mind if you have more body mass or a faster metabolism than the average bear, you may need to take a larger dose than indicated. If there are hard-and-fast limitations on how often you can take the product, it will be listed on the package. Most can be used up to six times daily without problems (but we doubt that you would need to do that).

Remember, there are no “magic bullets” in life, and any product (herbal, pharmaceutical, or otherwise) claiming 100% success without knowing you, your constitution, and your lifestyle is lying and trying to get into your wallet. Often, herbalists (and MDs) need to try several products before we find the one that works for your unique biochemistry.

Feel free to email us if the product didn’t quite do the job, we can recommend another that could do the trick. We are blessed with many plants that have the same action in the body- and often it’s just a matter of finding the right one for you.
