Q: What's the difference between bird flu and swine flu?
A: If you have bird flu, you need tweetment. If you have swine flu, you need oink-ment.

Seriously, though- this tea is invaluable for colds of all types!  This amazing tisane contains no caffeine- only herbs that help with the causes and symptoms of respiratory illness! Immune boosting, microbe and congestion fighting herbs all blend together for a pleasant tasting brew! We vary this recipe seasonally based on local herb availability (current batch ingredients below), but it is always fantastic and effective.

Haven tisanes come in airtight tins and are filled by volume. Weights range between 2 oz. and 5 oz. depending on their weight of the botanicals. Tinned tisanes come with brewing instructions and a reusable cloth infuser bag inside.  Each tin makes approximately 30 individual cups of tea.

Elderberries*, Bayberry*, Goldenseal*, Yarrow*, Peppermint*, Lemon Balm* (*organic)

Use approximately 1 tablespoon of plant mix per 8 oz of water. More makes a stronger brew, less a weaker one. Our teas are loose and unbagged, because big vital pieces are more powerful in effect and taste. We include a reusable cotton bag in case you have not yet acquired tea accoutrements. Boil water, then pour over your herbs. COVER and let sit 15-20 minutes, This is called an infusion. Double steeping is just fine and increases your yield.
Sweeten as desired. Haven Tisanes are lovely hot or cold.

This tisane is a remedy, meaning it is for temporary use for an acute problem (like a headache, muscle spasm, or infection). Standard starting dose for an adult over 100# is a cup (8 oz) 2-3 times a day, up to 6 times daily. Know that if you have a bigger body mass or faster metabolism than the average bear, you may want a bigger or more frequent dose. We doubt you will need that much, but it’s nice to know that you can!

How to Use Herbal Supplements (Generally Speaking)

Herbal remedies, supplements, and tonics are fundamentally different from pharmaceuticals (and we like it that way). They are designed to restore your body and its systems to homeostasis gently- working with your body.

We post basic dosage guidelines, but keep in mind if you have more body mass or a faster metabolism than the average bear, you may need to take a larger dose than indicated. If there are hard-and-fast limitations on how often you can take the product, it will be listed on the package. Most can be used up to six times daily without problems (but we doubt that you would need to do that).

Remember, there are no “magic bullets” in life, and any product (herbal, pharmaceutical, or otherwise) claiming 100% success without knowing you, your constitution, and your lifestyle is lying and trying to get into your wallet. Often, herbalists (and MDs) need to try several products before we find the one that works for your unique biochemistry.

Feel free to email us if the product didn’t quite do the job, we can recommend another that could do the trick. We are blessed with many plants that have the same action in the body- and often it’s just a matter of finding the right one for you.
